A bit more about me
I worked in the food and beverage industry for over 20 years. I’ve slung coffee and cocktails, curated wine lists and seasonal menus, wrangled executive chefs, and hosted the ever-chaotic Mother’s Day buffets; the entire time realizing that the best culinary experience I’ve received was cooking alongside my mom and grandmothers.
I am a voracious eater. My next meal is always top of mind. I am expert at making something out of nothing, or often in my case, resurrecting sad vegetables longing to avoid the compost. I excel at making luxurious, decadent meals healthy(ier). Chopping vegetables is as close to transcendental meditation as I’ve come. Really, I just love food – thinking about it, creating it, feeding it to my loved ones, and of course, eating it.
I am married to a wonderful man, formerly known as the Great Samoan Hunter, who I can confidently say, married me for my corned beef. We have two daughters who love to create messes and merriment in our kitchen. As a family, we love to forage for food in our beloved Idaho mountains. When we are lucky to harvest wild game, elk, deer, and chukar grace the centerpieces of our meals. We cultivate a garden each summer filled with vegetables not abundantly available at the grocery store – think pink eggplant and cucamelon.
My recipes are geared to build your confidence, your creativity, and your skills in your own kitchen, wild or otherwise. I strive to use real ingredients: locally-sourced and sustainable whenever possible. You won’t find any refined oils in any of my recipes. That said, I’m not fussy nor am I judgey: everything I do is designed to be adapted to your kitchen and your life.
I can’t wait to feed you!
